Why-breakfast-is-the-most-important-meal-of-the-dayBreakfast is widely regarded as the “most important meal of the day” and I have to agree with this completely! Any time a client asks me what should I eat for breakfast, you can guarantee that I say the same thing to everyone regardless of what their goal is.

This is “AVOID CARBS!”

There is substantial research which argues that in order to build muscle and burn fat more effectively throughout the day, you breakfast should neglect carbohydrates as much as possible.

You want your body to run off fat for energy as in adipose tissue or bodyfat. You do not want your body to use sugars or amino acids as their nutrients could be better used for muscle recovery and brain function.

By eating a low carb, higher fat breakfast you can keep your insulin levels much lower, which channels the body towards using fat as energy instead. Having high insulin levels shuts off using bodyfat as fuel which pretty much nobody wants (unless training for something very specific). Whereas a high carb breakfast pushes you more towards being a “sugar burner.”

So next time you feel like toast or cornflakes for breakfast.. PUT IT DOWN!
